The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon may be suffering a mini-crisis after two more players are forced to miss the international friendly against the Super Eagles of Nigeria fixed for June 4th in Austria.
China-based Christian Bassogog who plays for Shanghai Shenhua has failed to secure his release from the club despite the fixture falling on a FIFA international window while right-back Olivier Mbaizo of Philadelphia Union has still not been granted a visa for Austria.
The duo join Jean Onana of Royal Excel Mouscron of Belgium whose unavailability had been reported to the technical staff for more than ten days and the latest withdrawals bring to three the number of absentees from the initial 28-man list.
According to authoritative Cameroonian website Footazimuts, there’s no indication if the three players would be replaced nor the identity of their likely replacements.
As at Sunday evening, the bulk of the invited squad has already joined the team camp, including Serge Tabekou called to replace the absent Jean Onana.
According to a source within the team’s camp, the technical staff are expecting about only seven to eight players who have until Monday when the camp officially opens.
Meanwhile, Serge Tabekou who was called up to replace his club teammate Jean Onana has joined up with the national team.
The match will be played at the Weiner Neustadt Stadium on June 4 at 19:30 GMT.
