AKA, a South African rapper, was tragically shot and killed on Friday night in Durban. His name was Kiernan Jarryd Forbes.
According to reports, a drive-by shooting occurred outside the Wish Restaurant on Florida Road, and the victim was AKA.
The rapper intended to spend his birthday night at the YUGO nightclub in Stamford Hill.
In addition to AKA, another of the rapper’s close friends was slain in the shooting, and his security was injured.
AKA, who was born and bred in Cape Town, gained notoriety in 2011 when his single “Victory Lap,” which was included on his debut album Altar Ego, was made available.
His song “Fela in Versace” helped him gain popularity in Nigeria.
