Former Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, in an interview today implied that a Southeast presidency is not possible.

In his statement issued to newsmen in Kano, he said that no right-thinking Nigerian will endanger their lives to support the candidature of any South-East politician vying for the presidency in 2023.

He said those responsible for the rising insurgence in the southeast are hell bent on leading Nigeria into anarchy.

Towards the end of 2020, some groups from the Southeast inaugurated a movement with the agenda of Igbo presidency as a solution to address the country’s issues.

Following the reaction of Nigerians and Twitter to the presidency’s threat to war and hate speech on Twitter, Sumaila said that the rising worries with unknown gunmen terrorizing the region is proof that southeast is not fit for Igbo presidency.

In his words,

“With these atrocities committed by the South-East people on record, how can Nigerians entrust them to govern us? I am sure not a single right-thinking Nigerian will endanger his life to support the candidature of any South-East politician contesting for presidency come 2023 general elections. The perpetrators of the attacks must understand that if the country becomes chaotic, then nobody including the perpetrators can escape.”

Sulaiman advised that southeast should refrain from self deceit as none of their actions can get them Igbo presidency
