University Students in the country, under the banner of the National Association of Nigerian Students -NANS, for the South-West zone, had blocked the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as they were protesting the ASUU strike.

The students had gathered at the Sagamu interchange as early as 9 am on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, after which both sides of the highway had been blocked thereby preventing traffic flow both in and outside Lagos.

A lot of road users had been trapped and commercial activities were grounded during the protest.

The protesters were led by the NANS Vice President, External Affairs, the Public Relations Officer; Zone D Coordinator, Deputy Senate President, Ondo JCC Chairman, Lagos JCC Chairman, Ogun JCC Chairman, and Oyo JCC Chairman.

The students had demanded an immediate end to the strike which will enter its seventh month on September 14. The Nigerian government has been urged to meet the demands of the striking lecturers so that the affected students can return to class.
