Muhammad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has urged leaders to strengthen their efforts in addressing Nigeria’s economic and security issues. He delivered this appeal during his Sallah message at his palace in Sokoto, where thousands of Muslim followers gathered to honor him.
Following the prayers, the Sultan of Sokoto addressed the Muslim faithful at his palace, urging leaders to step up efforts to improve the economy and combat rising insecurity, allowing access to farms and ending hunger in Nigeria.
The two-unit prayers at the Sokoto central Eid ground were led by Chief Imam Malamin Akwara of the Sultan Bello Mosque, with the Sultan of Sokoto, Sokoto State Deputy Governor, and other top officials who attended this year’s Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
He also encouraged affluent individuals in society to support the less privileged.
In a related event, residents of Gwiwa Eka, a suburb in Sokoto, praised Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi for donating a cow for the Sallah celebration. Adamu Abdulrahman, speaking on behalf of the meat recipients, expressed their gratitude to Peter Obi for bringing joy to them on this special occasion.
“Some of us could not afford the high cost of rams in the market. We are grateful to Peter Obi, for this magnanimity” and then called on other well-to-do personalities to emulate his good gesture.
