Alhaji Muhammed Sa’ ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto has bemoaned the involvement of certain Fulanis in banditry and kidnapping in the country, as according to him, it gives off a bad name to the whole Fulani stock in Nigeria.
The Sultan who is additionally the President-General, of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, had made the observation on Saturday, November 26, during the inauguration and swearing-in of the new national executive officers of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, held at the National Mosque, in FCT Abuja.
He then proceeded to challenge the group to aid in finding a lasting solution to the issue of banditry and kidnapping in the country.
“Everybody knows that Fulanis travel a lot. They move everywhere and they inter-marry. We are also peace-loving people.” The Sultan who was also Fulani remarked.
“But now, we have come to the situation in which we find our children who are Fulani, though not all of them are Fulani, getting involved in banditry and kidnapping. What happened?”
“When we meet with the executives, we will deliberate on how to tackle this. How do we resolve them because it is high time we did.” He had concluded.
