Despite the four points garnered from the matches played in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Nigeria’s Super Eagles remain at 39th position in the latest rankings released by FIFA. The teams defeated the Cheetahs of Benin with three goals to nil and managed to hold the Amavubi of Rwanda to a goalless draw.

The latest rankings released on Thursday by FIFA placed Nigeria as the sixth-best team in Africa. Despite the good performances in the AFCON qualifiers, the Super Eagles have seen minimal effect on their global standing.

Nigeria is sitting behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, and Tunisia, respectively, as the top five places occupy in Africa.

The Super Eagles will, however, have another opportunity to climb up the ladder when they play against Libya in their next AFCON qualifying matches in October.

Africa’s Top 10 (FIFA Rankings):

1. Morocco
2. Senegal
3. Egypt
4. Côte d’Ivoire
5. Tunisia
6. Nigeria
7. Algeria
8. Cameroon
9. Mali
10. DR Congo
