The new norm now is the kidnapping of priests. Just last week, the body of Reverend Father Vitus Borogo was discovered on his farm after being brutally murdered by unknown assailants. unknown men-at-arms. He was buried in the state capital on Thursday.

Yet again, some unidentified gunmen kidnapped two Catholic priests, Reverend Father John Cheitnum and Donatis Cleopas, while they were going to a ceremony in the Lere Municipal Government area of Kaduna. They were kidnapped yesterday, Friday, according to Reverend Father Emmanuel Okolo, Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafancha.

Priests in Kaduna have taken to the streets to protest against the weak state of security in Nigeria and Kaduna.

The Chancellor said: “It is with great pain that we inform you of the kidnapping of two of our priests; Rev. Frs. John Mark Cheitnum and Donatus Cleopas.

“The sad event of their kidnapping occurred around 5:45 p.m. on July 15, 2022, shortly after the two priests were on their way to an event in another parish in the administrative area of Lere Municipality, Kaduna State.” We solicit an intense prayer for her speedy and safe release, we would like to call on each and everyone to refrain from taking the law into their hands.”

“We will use all legitimate means to ensure their speedy and safe release.

“May Jesus crucified on the cross hear our prayers and hasten the unconditional release of his priests and all other abducted individuals.”

This incident is very sad because what would they gain from killing innocent priests, it is time the government takes the necessary steps to protect their people as we are the state!
