It’s no longer a rumor as Manchester has officially announced the signing of Danish midfielder Christain Eriksen on a free transfer.
The ex-Tottenham, Inter Milan, and Brentford player is officially an Old Trafford player
United’s statement read: “Manchester United is delighted to confirm that Christian Eriksen has joined the club, signing a contract until June 2025.
His contract with Brentford recently expired in June, he then consented to sign for Manchester United. He is the second player signed by the club. It seems Erik Ten Hag is ready to break the spell that has been placed on Manchester United as they fared miserably last season.
“The midfielder has been capped 115 times for Denmark and has scored 38 goals for his country. Eriksen has made 237 appearances in the Premier League, recording 52 goals and 71 assists.
It’s very evident that Eriksen is excited to play for Manchester United as he praised Erik Ten Hag’s coaching skills
Eriksen said: “Manchester United is a special club and I can’t wait to get started. I’ve had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times, but doing it in the United red jersey will be an incredible feeling.
“I have seen Erik’s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put in every day. He’s a fantastic coach. After speaking to him and learning more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I’m even more excited for the future. I still have big ambitions in the game, there is a lot I know I can achieve and this is the perfect place to continue my journey.”
He is not joining his teammate’s flight to Australia for the last two games of Manchester United’s pre-season tour but will meet with teammates ahead of their flight to Oslo on July 30 where they will face Athletico Madrid.
Rumors abound that Manchester United is preparing to sign Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez.
