According to the Nigerian Army, 6,251 newly recruited soldiers will be deployed to fight the activities of criminal elements.

The statement was made by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, on Saturday in Zaria, Kaduna State, during the passing-out parade of the 84 regular recruits.

Yahaya stated that Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, robbers, kidnappers, separatist agitators, religious fanatics, and other criminal forces were posing significant security issues in Nigeria.

He stated that the passing out would increase the strength and fighting efficiency of the Nigerian Army by 6,251 well-trained men.

The COAS reaffirmed his commitment and support for improving training standards as well as the welfare of recruits, instructors, and Depot, Nigeria Army personnel.
He instructed the recruits on the Nigerian Army’s key values of loyalty, selfless service, courage, discipline, integrity, and respect for others.
