The Lagos State Government has directed for an increase of 100 % in bursary to students from the state schooling in tertiary institutions across the country.
Mr. Abdur Rahaman Lekki, the Executive Secretary of, the Lagos State Scholarship Board, who revealed this in a statement on Sunday, October 16, added that the increment would take effect from the 2022/2023 academic session.
According to Mr. Lekki, he had announced the development to the leaders of the National Union of Lagos State Students -NULASS and the National Association of Nigerian Students -NANS during a meeting in Alausa, Ikeja.
However, Mr. Lekki stressed that the 100 % raise in bursary and other incentives were geared towards supporting students who hailed from Lagos State with their educational demands in the face of the current economic reality in the country.
Meanwhile, the government has accepted the resolutions on the creation of the Lagos Diaspora Scholarship Fund adopted at the just concluded State Economic Summit known as the “Ehingbeti Summit.”
