Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he was close to stepping away from the music industry just before releasing his chart-topping track “With You” featuring Omah Lay.
In a recent viral interview, the multiple award-winning artist admitted that he never anticipated the song would emerge as the standout hit from his latest album.
Davido explained that the overwhelming success of “With You” reignited his love for music at a time when he was seriously considering taking a step back after more than a decade in the industry.
Reflecting on his career, he acknowledged how rare it is for an artist to achieve such a breakthrough this far into their professional journey.
He described the timing of the hit as divinely orchestrated, arriving just when he was planning to slow down.
“Some artists get that kind of song at the start of their careers, others in the middle. For me, 13–14 years in, I was even thinking of bowing out. Then God blessed me with this song. It added more life to my journey,” he said.
