A student of the University of Cross River State had on Thursday afternoon, February 9, been shot dead by yet-to-be-identified gunmen on the Calabar campus of the university.
Mr. Onen, the institution’s PRO had been the one to confirm the incident.
According to an anonymous source, the gunmen had driven into the school in a Toyota Sienna car and had headed straight to where the victim was with his friends, shooting him twice.
The source then went on to add that the gunmen took the dead student’s bag and re-entered their car and thereafter drove off.
It was gathered that the gunmen were successful in driving out of the school premises before the institution’s security team including some policemen were notified of the incident.
Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, the spokesperson for the state police, SP Irene Ugbo, had not responded to attempts made to get her statement concerning this incident.
