There's an Open Ticket Draw In L.A for The Olympic Games. Here's How to Get On It (Before It's Too Late)

A little-known but absolutely critical gateway to the 2028 Olympics has just opened in Los Angeles: a global, random-draw registration. Almost no one understands how it works, and a surprising number of fans will miss it entirely, locking themselves out of their shot at the Games before the race to the finish line even begins. Here is exactly what you need to know to get on the list before it’s too late.

This is the LA28 Ticket Draw, and it is the only way for the public to guarantee a chance to purchase tickets. You are not buying anything now. You are registering for a lottery that will assign you a random, future time slot to shop. If you are not registered, you cannot get a time slot. If you do not have a time slot, you cannot buy tickets during the primary sales period. It is that simple, and the deadline to enter the first draw is March 18, 2026.

There's an Open Ticket Draw In L.A for The Olympic Games. Here's How to Get On It (Before It's Too Late)
Step 1: Find the Official Portal (And Avoid the Scams)

Your first move is to go to the official LA28 ticketing website. Do not search for “Olympic tickets” on generic search engines, as you will be flooded with unauthorized resellers and scams. The official site is your only legitimate path. Registration is free and open globally, but you can only register once. Your single registration will carry over for all future draws, so there is no advantage to waiting.

Step 2: Understand the “Locals” Advantage

This is the insider tip most people miss. If you live in one of dozens of specified counties in Southern California or even parts of Oklahoma, you are eligible for a huge head start: the “Locals Presale.” This exclusive window runs from April 2 to April 6, 2026, and requires a separate, free registration in addition to the main draw. If you qualify, you must register for both. This presale is your golden ticket for better access and selection before the global rush.

Step 3: The Reality of What Happens Next

After the March 18 deadline, the lottery will run. Sometime later in 2026, you will receive an email with your assigned shopping time—or news that you’ve been waitlisted. This is where most people fail. Why? You must be ready to act the instant your window opens. Tickets will be sold in real-time, and the best sessions (gymnastics, swimming, opening ceremony) will vanish in minutes. Have your payment details saved and your schedule cleared.

When It Becomes “Too Late”

If you miss the March 18 registration, you are not entirely out of luck, but you are at a severe, likely costly disadvantage. Your only remaining options will be to hope for a later draw (if organizers hold one) or to brave the unregulated, hyper-inflated secondary market after tickets go on sale. The promise of affordable access (the core mission of these Games) will have evaporated for you.
