Three individuals suspected of being kidnappers have been apprehended by the Benue State Police Command.

The Benue state police spokesperson, Sewuese Anene, informed TheCable that the suspects were taken into custody in connection with the recent abduction of three people along Otukpo Road.

“They were arrested two or three days after the kidnapping and are currently in custody,” she said.

According to the police spokesperson, nine corpses were recovered following the attack on Otobi community in the Akpa district of Otukpo Local Government Area.

She also mentioned that residents later discovered an additional body.

“Some of the officers that were sent to the community remained there,” she added.

There has been an increase in killings and kidnappings reportedly carried out by suspected herdsmen across various local government areas in Benue State.

On April 10, unknown gunmen killed at least three people in the Mbasombo community of Gwer East Local Government Area in the state.

On March 10, suspected herdsmen attacked Katsina Ala Local Government Area in the state, killing 13 people, including women and children.

The gunmen were said to have targeted several communities, such as Utange Council, Kpav, Dikpo, and the Imande Gberihwa region of the state.
