On Monday, police officers arraigned three staff of the Sweet Sensation restaurant at the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for the alleged theft of N6 million from the organization.
The defendants and suspects: Oluwatosin Owa (cashier), Esther Ogoke, and Juliet Madueke were all staff of Sweet Sensation, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) outlet in Ikeja, and the trio was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiring and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Felicia Okwori, disclosed to the court that the defendants committed the offences on 2nd August at that particular outlet.
Okwori then went on to add that the funds were proceeds of their sales for three years. The theft was discovered when the company’s accounts were audited by the management.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 287 and 411 in the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs. H. B. Mogaji, has granted the defendants bail with the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties in like sum. The Sweet Sensation case had then been adjourned till October 5 for mention.
