In a significant development in the fight against terrorism, military operatives in north-western Nigeria have successfully eliminated a notorious bandit leader, Halilu Sububu, who had been terrorizing citizens across Zamfara, Sokoto, and other regions. Another key terrorist, Sani Wala Burki, was also killed in a joint operation in Katsina. These operations mark a substantial victory in restoring peace and security in the north-west.

In addition to these successful strikes, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji dismantled a terrorist enclave in Kaduna, where 13 students, who had been kidnapped by terrorists, were freed.

Presidential Reaction to Military Success

Following the news of the successful military operations, the presidency released a statement on Saturday through Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy). The statement emphasized that these operations reinforce the nation’s confidence in the capabilities of its security forces to restore and maintain peace.

President’s Commendation to the Military

President Bola Tinubu commended the military, intelligence agencies, and troops for their synergy, bravery, and dedication. He highlighted their “valiant efforts” in achieving recent breakthroughs and urged them to continue their mission until all threats to the nation’s peace and security are fully eradicated.

“The President also commends the entire security apparatus for the improved security in the nation and enjoins them to sustain their efforts until immediate and latent threats are permanently removed,” the statement read in part.

Directive to Security Chiefs

The recent operations align with President Tinubu’s earlier directive to service chiefs to relocate to the north-western zone until stability and normalcy are restored. His administration has prioritized national security, and he has reaffirmed his support for the security agencies in their efforts to maintain safety across Nigeria.

Bottom Line:

The military’s recent actions in neutralizing key terrorists and freeing kidnapped students demonstrate progress in improving security in north-western Nigeria. President Tinubu has expressed full support for the continued efforts of the armed forces, with a strong emphasis on sustaining peace and removing all threats.
