President Bola Tinubu has restated Nigeria’s strong and steady support for Ghana, saying the connection between the two countries is solid and cannot be broken. Speaking in Accra on Tuesday during the swearing-in of President John Mahama, Tinubu stressed that Nigeria is prepared to collaborate with Ghana to address the problems affecting West Africa.
“We are your brothers and sisters. Our bond is strong and unbreakable,” Tinubu said. He called Mahama’s election a major success for democracy in the region and assured that Nigeria’s help and good wishes will always be there when needed.
The Nigerian leader praised Ghana for holding a successful election, saying it shows Africa is making progress in democracy. He urged global critics to recognize the continent’s achievements, adding that Ghana’s peaceful change of power should end any doubts about Africa’s ability to practice democracy.
“This moment is more than just a sign of progress in Ghana’s democracy,” Tinubu said. “We don’t need to prove anything to anyone but ourselves. We have found the right way to succeed, and we will work at our own pace to lift our nations out of poverty and build strong economies.”
He called the inauguration a moment of pride and honor for the whole continent and its people living abroad.
“The sun is shining, and the sky is bright, but today I see a Black Star rising high in Africa’s sky,” Tinubu said, talking about Ghana’s famous symbol. “This Black Star shines over Ghana, and its light reaches across the continent, bringing hope, unity, and a feeling that we all share the same future.”
The Nigerian president emphasized the need for African countries to stay united and warned about outside forces trying to create division on the continent.
