Ohanaeze Ndigbo had on Wednesday, June 28, elucidated on how President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would hearken to the pleas of the Southeast residents.
The Igbo social-cultural association had remarked that Tinubu would pay attention to the Southeast when governors from the region and Igbo leaders lend their support to him.
This statement is according to the factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, who opined that Igbo leaders that were encouraging Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, to topple Tinubu will only fail.
Isiguzoro had instead, charged them to beg off their support from Obi and extend it to Tinubu.
The Sec-Gen had been of the opinion that the South-Eastern governors should boldly declare their support and work with President Tinubu, irrespective of party affiliation.
In his words:
“Ohanaeze and Igbo elders hiding under Peter Obi and prodding him to unseat Tinubu will never be victorious as no power on earth can unseat Tinubu. We will make sure that all the unrepentant elders are compelled to support and work with Tinubu.”
Isiguzoro’s ideology that Tinubu would pay attention to the South-East more if they declared their unified support for the president is a bit far-fetched as the President himself had not expressly said or hinted something towards this effect.
Could Isiguzoro’s statement simply have been an optimistic idea or does his statement hold weight?
