Nigerian-born women’s hurdles world record-holder, Tobi Amusan, had in the early hours of Wednesday, July 19, affirmed that she had been charged with a purported anti-doping rule violation.
Tobi Amusan had in the same vein, promised to settle the charges against her before this year’s competition, scheduled to hold in August in Budapest.
The 26-year-old athlete had made this disclosure via a post she made to her Instagram account.
The post read:
“Today the Athletics Integrity Unit, AIU, has charged me for allegedly violating a rule (having 3 missed tests in 12 months).
“I plan to fight this charge and I will have my case decided upon by a tribunal of 3 adjudicators before the start of next month’s World Championships.”
Regardless of Amusan’s words, this newest development has cast doubt on her participation in next month’s world championships.
Recall that the Nigerian star had set the current world record for the women’s 100m hurdles of 12.12 seconds in the 2022 World Athletics Championships.
