The Lagos State Government has announced the partial closure of the Marine Bridge for repair works, effective Monday, November 18, 2024, to Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, stated that traffic on the lane outbound Apapa will be diverted to facilitate repairs to the asphalt section of the bridge.
Alternative Routes for Motorists
To minimize disruptions, motorists are advised to use the following routes:
1. To Lagos Island from Apapa
- – Use Costain Roundabout to connect Eko Bridge.
- – Alternatively, go through Ijora 7up, then the Marine Bridge ramp, linking Ijora Causeway Access Road via Ijora Oloye, and proceed to Eko Bridge.
2. To Ijora Causeway/Iddo from Apapa
- – Take Costain Roundabout to Eko Bridge, access Ijora Causeway via the bridge ramp, and make a U-turn on Ijora Causeway to reach Iddo.
- – Alternatively, use Ijora 7up through Marine Bridge, connecting Ijora Causeway Access Road via Ijora Oloye to reach Iddo.
Traffic Management Measures
The diversion will primarily affect traffic inwards Ijora Olopa, but access to Costain via Sifax will remain open. LASTMA personnel will be stationed at strategic points to ease movement and minimize inconvenience.
Motorists are urged to remain patient, as the repairs are part of the Federal Ministry of Works’ efforts to rehabilitate the road’s asphalt pavement. The government has assured the public that the project will be strictly monitored to ensure timely completion.
