The Markurdi National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Benue State has announced Senator Gabriel Suswam of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the winner of the February 25 election for the Benue Northeast senatorial district.
Reports had emerged that the tribunal judgement which was held for more than three hours had sacked the All Progressives Congress’, APC, Emmanuel Udende from the upper chambers of the National Assembly.
Suswam, who is a member of the 9th senate, had failed in his attempt to return to the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
The tribunal had expressed their satisfaction that the petitioners had now fulfilled the necessities of the law and that judgment had also favoured them immensely.
Note that this judgement had taken over 2 hours to decide, and was finally concluded on Friday, September 8, 2023.
