The bus had been transporting fervent fans of the soccer team Corinthians, who had just attended a match against Cruzeiro in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais.
According to passengers’ accounts, the bus was carrying 43 people when it tragically lost its brakes at approximately 2:50 a.m., leading to a collision with a ravine and the subsequent overturning of the vehicle, as reported by firefighters.
The fire department disclosed that 36 individuals sustained injuries in the accident, with 27 of them being promptly transported to hospitals. One of the injured passengers was in a serious but non-life-threatening condition.
In response to the tragedy, Corinthians expressed deep sorrow over the accident and conveyed their heartfelt solidarity with the grieving families of the victims. Numerous other Brazilian soccer clubs also joined in offering their condolences.
