A shooting and stabbing incident in rural Japan has left three individuals dead and one injured. The incident unfolded on Thursday, May 25 when a man dressed in camouflage reportedly barricaded himself inside a building. Authorities had then swiftly responded to the scene, aiming to bring the situation under control.

According to NHK national television, the assailant attacked a woman with a knife and shot what appeared to be a hunting rifle in Nagano prefecture, located in central Japan.

Two police officers tragically lost their lives during the confrontation, while another person sustained injuries. The exact nature of the injuries suffered by the officers remains unclear, as it is uncertain whether they were stabbed or shot.
