On Wednesday, tragedy struck when an articulated truck carrying a 40-foot container collided with a BRT vehicle at the Oke-Riya inbound Agric Bus stop in Ikorodu, Lagos, instantly killing the driver.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of LASEMA, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, acknowledged the occurrence.
It was determined after the accident that the driver’s death was caused by brake failure, which caused him to lose control.
The articulated truck carrying a 40-foot container was found to be engaged in a single collision at the aforementioned site, according to Oke-Osanyintolu.
The agency’s high-tech heavy equipment is currently working to rescue the wrecked articulated vehicle, and a flat-body truck from the agency has also been sent out to recover the 40-foot container.
Drivers using the axis and those intending to go through the area were detoured to alternate routes as a result of the incident, as instructed by emergency personnel throughout the recovery phase.
