Trump Oil Stock Trades Surge During Iran War

Financial disclosure filings from the Office of Government Ethics show that Trump oil stock trades continued at a high volume throughout the second quarter of 2026. While the administration manages the ongoing U.S. conflict in the Middle East, the president’s investment accounts bought and sold hundreds of thousands of dollars in major energy firms like ExxonMobil, Chevron, and ConocoPhillips. With global market instability pushing fuel prices higher, congressional estimates indicate his energy portfolio value rose significantly, growing from an estimated range of $13 million to $46 million earlier this year up to $61 million by mid-August.

White House Response to Trump Oil Stock Trades

White House spokespeople responded to questions about Trump oil stock trades by stating that independent third-party financial institutions manage the accounts automatically using computer algorithms modeled after major market indexes. Official statements emphasize that neither the president nor his family directs individual transactions or market timing. External financial analysts also noted that many of these automated sales resemble standard tax-loss harvesting practices designed to offset investment gains across large portfolios.

Ethical Concerns Over Presidential Energy Holdings

Despite assurances of third-party management, government ethics watchdogs argue that active Trump oil stock trades create an unavoidable conflict of interest during wartime. Because the president chose not to place his assets into a blind trust, many point out that decision-making on foreign policy directly intersects with industries where his portfolio maintains large positions. The situation has renewed calls from policy experts and lawmakers to update federal transparency rules regarding personal stock ownership for top elected officials.

My Opinion on the Matter

It does not matter whether an automated computer system executed these moves or a human broker hit the button; Trump was completely wrong to let this happen.

As President of the United States, your decisions send troops into harm’s way and directly impact global markets, fuel prices, and the everyday cost of living for working families. Allowing your personal investment portfolio to trade individual oil stocks while you manage a foreign conflict is a massive failure of leadership.

Every other modern president understood this basic standard. They placed their assets into blind trusts or stuck strictly to basic broad-market funds so the public would never have to guess their true motives. By refusing to set up a real blind trust, Trump left the door wide open for people to question if military choices were influenced by financial gain.

When gas prices go up during a war, everyday people pay the price at the pump. The leader making those war decisions should never be in a position where their personal wealth grows from that same crisis. It shows a complete lack of accountability, a total disregard for standard ethical boundaries, and a refusal to put the public’s trust first. Trump was wrong, plain and simple, and he should have cleared out these individual holdings long ago to avoid this blatant conflict.
