Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made numerous false assertions or extreme statements during Tuesday’s debate with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, some of which were “immigrants eating pets. Democrats in favor of executing newborn babies. Israel ceasing to exist under a potential Kamala Harris presidency” all of which promoted the moderators to correct them severally.
Trump’s most shocking claim on Tuesday night had been his emphasis that numerous Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were raiding residents’ pets or taking wildlife from parks for consumption.
“They’re eating the dogs! The people that came in. They’re eating the cats! They’re eating, they’re eating the pets of the people that live there.” Trump infamously said during the debate.
In reaction, the Biden White House had condemned the viral misinformation, which Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance, had also shared.
According to the White House, such remarks were made to divide Americans through lies and was based on racism.
Trump had also falsely claimed that millions of migrants were trooping into the United States from foreign prisons and mental institutions. “They are taking over the towns. They’re taking over buildings. They’re going in violently,” Trump was quoted to have said.
Meanwhile, migrants have not staged any violent takeovers of American towns.
Donald Trump also reiterated a falsehood that Democrats were vert extreme on abortion rights that they support killing newborns.
According to Harris, however, she was supporting the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling that backed women’s constitutional right to abortion at up to around 24 to 28 weeks.
Harris and Walz had also debunked Trump’s claims, saying that they do not support executing babies.
Finally, during a discussion on the Middle East, Trump made assertions that Harris “hates” Israel.
“If she’s president, I believe that Israel will not exist within two years from now,” he had said.
In counter, Harris said that it was “absolutely not true” gave instances where she supported the country throughout her political career.
