Turkey: Armed Attack During Election Campaign Injures Lady

A lady has been wounded in an armed attack on Saturday, February 10, during Turkey’s ruling AK Party’s mayoral election campaign in Istanbul, according to Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya.

Yerlikaya had added tvia a post on X that an investigation launched into the incident revealed that the incident had occurred in the city’s southwestern Kucukcekmece district.

Turkey: Armed Attack During Election Campaign Injures Lady

The attackers had shot at the crowd with long-barrelled guns and pistols but no further details of their identity or motive had been given at the time of making this report.

Meanwhile, the Turkish President, Tayyip Erdogan has condemned the attack on X, saying:

“No attack on our democracy, unity and solidarity will succeed.”

Turkey’s mayoral elections will take place on March 31.
