The British High Commission has praised the efforts of Nigeria’s electoral commission, INEC, during the just concluded Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, March 22, its observers deployed to six states had witnessed the timely opening of polling units and the newly improved Bimodal Voter Accreditation System as compared to the Presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25.
But the Commission had on the other hand expressed concern over the heightened violence, vote-buying, voter intimidation, and suppression which were characteristics of the day during the March 18 elections, threatening to sanction the perpetrators and urging all aggrieved parties to seek legal redress.
