Ukraine says it is reviewing intelligence shared by the United States and European partners, suggesting that Russia may be preparing to deploy a hypersonic ballistic missile system, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.
“Our intelligence services reported receiving data, including from American and European partners, about Russia preparing a strike with the Oreshnik missile. We are verifying this information,” Zelenskyy said in a post on X.
He added that Ukraine is strengthening its defensive measures as it prepares for possible attacks.
“We are preparing our air defense as much as possible, and we will respond fully justly to every Russian strike,” he added.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv issued a security advisory on Saturday, warning of a “potentially significant” aerial attack on Ukraine within the next 24 hours.
“The embassy, as always, recommends U.S. citizens be prepared to immediately shelter in the event an air alert is announced,” the statement said.
On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin alleged that several people were killed and many others injured following Ukrainian drone strikes on a college dormitory in Starobilsk, located in the Luhansk People’s Republic.
He said he had instructed Russia’s military leadership to prepare options for a response.
“It is impossible to limit ourselves to statements from the Foreign Ministry alone. Therefore, the Russian Defense Ministry has been ordered to present its proposals,” Putin said during remarks to military graduates.
However, Ukraine’s military denied the claims, insisting it targeted a Russian drone unit headquarters known as “Rubicon” instead.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a Facebook post that the “Rubicon” unit is involved in repeated attacks on Ukrainian civilians, accusing Russian media of spreading “manipulative information” and reiterating that Ukraine only targets military infrastructure in line with international law.
