A group of unknown gunmen has disclosed plans to attack councils located in nine local government areas in Anambra sometime soon. This development came about after security forces took out four persons attempting to enforce the Tuesday sit-at-home order in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area. The named target areas were Aguata, Awka North, Awka South, Ihiala, Idemili North, Idemili South, Orumba North, Orumba South, and Anambra East.
According to reports, the warning was left by a driver and said the mentioned areas “should wait for us soon.” Also included in the message was the notion that they (the gunmen) were ready for action in “Biafra Land” and that they were warning
“our dear professor that it is time for action and not time to speak big grammar and talking.” They said, “Go and tell the Zoo President to release our Oga, Onyendu, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or face continuous war. Final Warning.”
Conversely, the gunmen’s colleagues had already been traced and eliminated from Ogidi, according to a statement made by the Spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, Ikenga Tochukwu. He revealed that security operatives were on patrol around the state to maintain law and order and added that people should be allowed to go about their normal day-to-day business without fear or hesitation.
