Oleksandr Usyk showed that he is still the maestro in the ring as he stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth round and took back the undisputed heavyweight title for the second time. The 38-year-old Ukrainian unleashed his famous speed, skill, and footwork to dismantle Dubois, who was 11 years younger than him.
Usyk floored Dubois twice in the fifth after a brutal left hook to the chin ended the fight, the referee intervened. By winning, Usyk makes history as the first boxer to be undisputed champion three times in two different weight classes—cruiserweight and heavyweight.
After the fight, Usyk commented, “38 is still a young man, don’t forget! It’s just the beginning. Now, I need to take a few months off with my family.”
This fight was a repeat of their 2023 encounter, which was very controversial, but the situation took a different turn here, with Usyk being in control all the way through with no trouble at all. Dubois, who is now 22-3, accepted defeat nicely: “I fought with all my strength. There were some things that I could’ve done better, but I’m coming back.”
Usyk remains undefeated, now with a 24-0 record, and he has wins against Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Dubois—twice. Rumors of a possible third fight against Fury in 2026 have not died down yet.
