Controversial social media critic VeryDarkMan has called out Nigerians who have mocked his mother for being a teacher.
The activist recently took his mother to the bank following reports that funds were being deducted from her salary. In the aftermath, some online users ridiculed him, pointing out the irony of his mother being “just” a teacher while he continues to give to others through charitable acts.
Responding to the backlash, VeryDarkMan expressed disappointment in how poorly teachers are treated in Nigeria, blaming the government for creating an environment where the teaching profession is undervalued.
He criticized those belittling the role of educators, stressing that teaching should be one of the most respected and well-paid jobs in the country.
“I see a lot of posts of people mocking me say I dey do give away say my mother na ordinary school teacher, say I for don open business for her,” he said. “The truth is that I don’t blame you people. Na the yeye Nigerian government na him cause am, cause normally because the welfare of teachers suppose dey above the roofs….”
VeryDarkMan’s comments have sparked conversations online about the state of education and the treatment of teachers in Nigeria.
