The Nigerian Entertainment industry has lost a legend in the industry as Veteran singer Olanrewaju Ganiu Fasasi also known as Sound Sultan has just been confirm dead.
The news was confirmed by his brother, Dr. Kayode Fasasi, in a statement that Sound Sultan passed away in the early hours of Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the age of 44 after battling with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma for months.
In May, it was reported that the late veteran was undergoing chemotherapy after he was diagnosed with cancer for about two months. However, his elder brother “Dee Baba” who is also a singer debunked the rumour and stated that his brother was just sick and does not have cancer.
Sound Sultan’s influence in the music industry will be greatly missed, with over 20 years of an outstanding career coupled with notable awards and UN Ambassador for Peace for his exemplary lifestyle and career.
He also delved into sport when he joined forces with the organisers of the Continental Basketball League to become a team owner of Lagos City Stars (the 2017 champions), and a facilitator of the league entertainment.
