Veteran Nollywood star Fabian Adibe, best remembered for his role in the classic television adaptation of Things Fall Apart, has passed away.
The actor, who turned 80 in February 2025, died peacefully at about 2:30 am on Wednesday, according to confirmation from his family. They described his passing as a moment of both mourning and celebration of a life well lived.
Adibe rose to fame through his unforgettable performance as Ogbuefi Uzowulu in the 1987 adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, where he acted alongside Pete Edochie, Justus Esiri, and the late Sam Loco Efe. His calm presence and commanding performances earned him admiration across generations.
Beyond acting, Adibe also made history in 1965 when he led Nigeria to its first Commonwealth Art Festival, further cementing his place as a pioneer in the country’s cultural landscape.
