Ukrainian President Volodymyr expressed his heartfelt desire to put an end to the ongoing war in his Father’s Day message to his fellow Ukrainians on Sunday.
Through a statement shared on social media, he expressed gratitude to all Ukrainian soldiers bravely fighting on the front lines, defending Ukraine’s independence against Russia’s invasion. Volodymyr also conveyed his hope for every Ukrainian father to safely return home.
“On this special day, I extend my sincere thanks to every Ukrainian father and family for raising strong and courageous soldiers who have valiantly defended our nation’s independence and fought for Ukraine’s future,” Zelensky conveyed on social media.
He shared a poignant video by United24, a government initiative aimed at raising donations, showcasing Ukrainian soldiers reuniting with their families and embracing their children upon their return home.
“My wish is for our fathers to enjoy long and healthy lives, and for every father currently serving on the front lines to reunite with their loved ones,” he added.
The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has resulted in the loss of numerous lives and immense destruction. Efforts are underway to bridge the gap between the two countries, with African delegates engaging in talks with their respective leaders. Volodymyr has adamantly refused to engage in any dialogue with Russia’s president, given Russia’s invasion of Ukrainian territory.
South African President Ramaphosa is reportedly facilitating discussions with Putin in an attempt to find a resolution and bring an end to the war.
