Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, touched down earlier today, Monday, September 23rd, after leaving Nigeria on Sunday for New York, United States, to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Delegation Leadership
The Vice President was instructed by the President to lead the Nigerian delegation to this milestone event of international leaders on his behalf, as he plans to focus on pressing issues within the state.
A statement by the VP’s Senior Special Assistant for Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, reads: “As directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCON, Vice President Shettima is leading Nigeria’s delegation to this year’s UNGA, where he will deliver Nigeria’s national statement and participate in various high-level meetings.”

Reception on Arrival
The VP was received on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf M. Tuggar; Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani; Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa; Nigerian diplomats, UN officials, and many others.
