The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has denied the fake job advert being spread by unscrupulous individuals to defraud unsuspecting job-seekers.
The examination body had also warned all individuals who engaged in misleading practices to refrain from such practice, immediately.
The Acting Head of Public Affairs at the exam body, Movosola Adesina had in a statement issued on Friday, explained that the nomination of supervisors was solely done by the several Ministries of Education and had added that invigilators were appointed by schools that present candidates sitting for the examination.
WAEC had also stressed that they never called for job applicants or potential employees to provide monetary compensation in exchange for securing employment.
WAEC had then added that any individual who engages in any transaction with the website or any other one, apart from the official WAEC website, did so at his/her own detriment.
The fake website had advertised job offers that were supposedly meant for ad-hoc staff who would work as supervisors and invigilators in the forthcoming West African Senior School Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2024.
“The Council would like to categorically state that the advert did not emanate from us and thereby removes itself from the fake job advert being circulated by reprobate individuals whose schemes are to defraud unsuspecting job-seekers.”
“WAEC is not currently participating in recruitment activities. Whenever job opportunities arise, they are exclusively advertised through the daily newspapers, WAEC Nigeria’s official website (www.waecnigeria.org), and all of our social media platforms.”
