If you’re like me and you jotted ‘personal development’ to your New Year’s resolutions list, and you’re not sure on how to go about it? Then you’re at the right place (or article).
Personal development is any activity that you do so you can improve or transform yourself. If you’re working to change your habits, be more disciplined or start a new hobby, its all personal development.
The goal of these activities is to improve one’s overall happiness, limit stress, and promote a sense of inner peace and wellbeing.
If you’re feeling down that we’re more than halfway into the first month of the year and you are yet to begin those resolutions that you wrote down just before 2023 ended or elated that do far, you’ve been crushing your resolutions list and hitting those dopamine points, then you wouldn’t mind adding an easy but effective personal development challenge(s) to your day to day activities.
I understand that one of the biggest setbacks surrounding daily challenges is that they require a lot of effort and time, which some of us don’t have enough of.
For that sole reason, I’ve curated a list of personal development activities you can start now, not tomorrow to inculcate into your life. Read them below:
Yoga:

I love Yoga because it helps improve balance, strength and flexibility. Yoga combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to boost overall well-being so you can do it from the comfort of your home in less than 10 minutes!
Reading:

This is absolutely one of my favourite things to do. After the day’s work, I wind down and de-stress by picking up my favourite fiction book and getting lost in it till sleep carries me away ha ha. A plus to this activity is that it broadens your mind, reduces stress, enhances empathy by connecting you with diverse perspectives and experiences.
Fitness:

Hear me out first, fitness doesn’t only entail you going to the gym 3-4 days a week. Fitness can be you choosing to walk rather than enter a public transportation of any kind. Fitness can also mean choosing to take the stairs instead of using the elevator/escalator.
This way, you incorporate a physical development activity into your daily routine without necessarily going out of your way and inconveniencing yourself.
Meditation:

This activity focuses on creating a deep sense of inner peace and clarity for your body. Devoting a few minutes out of your day to quietly contemplate can go a long way to significantly reduce stress, boost your concentration, and enhance emotional wellbeing.
Listening to a Podcast:

It can be about finances, or a documentary. Anything at all that will enable you to learn as you listen, while you’re doing something else like your laundry or the dishes is very beneficial to your self-growth amd personal development.
I used to think doing yoga would be a complex activity but now I know better
Happy to be of help Chibuzor 🙂
