The Lagos State Government has announced its support for media personality and entrepreneur Tacha Akide as she prepares to challenge a Guinness World Record by attempting the highest number of cosmetic makeovers by a single person within 24 hours.

Her record attempt will headline the Tacha Beauty Festival, scheduled for October 10–12, 2025, at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History, Lagos. Tacha is targeting 150 makeovers in one day — an achievement that, if successful, will earn her a place in the Guinness World Records while showcasing Nigeria’s fast-growing beauty industry.

Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser on Tourism to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, highlighted the wider significance of the initiative.

What Lagos Really Thinks About Tacha’s Guinness Record Bid — Here’s The Full Story

“This is more than a record attempt. It is a statement that Nigerian creativity and excellence can compete anywhere in the world,” Aregbe noted. “The Tacha Beauty Festival is about empowering talent, celebrating culture, and creating a space where beauty meets opportunity, and Lagos State is proud to support this project.”

Organisers explained in a Sunday statement that the festival will combine business, innovation, and cultural celebration. Alongside the record-breaking challenge, the event will feature training workshops, exhibitions, business development sessions, and cultural showcases designed to strengthen opportunities within the beauty and lifestyle ecosystem.

Planned highlights include masterclasses in makeup, skincare, wellness, and fashion; a vendor marketplace for emerging beauty brands; and networking sessions for creatives and entrepreneurs. According to organisers, the festival is envisioned not just as entertainment, but as a platform to nurture talent and drive enterprise.

For Tacha, the challenge represents more than personal recognition. She described it as a chance to elevate Nigeria’s creative excellence on the world stage while inspiring young innovators to dream big and pursue daring goals.
