Wife of Nollywood actor Daniel Etim Effiong, Toyosi Effiong, recently spoke on trust in their seven-year marriage during her podcast, The Toyosi. When her husband asked if she trusted him completely, she replied that she trusts him to a large extent, but she does not have 100 percent trust in him.
Toyosi said she has taken years to understand her husband and believes in his commitment to their vows. However, she acknowledged that life is unpredictable, and one cannot put all her trust in it, though she felt she would always know if something went wrong.
It, therefore, has its challenges being married to a celebrity. Often, the nature of the industry requires proximity to many and publicity that could sometimes make it difficult for one to absolutely trust others. This openness of Toyosi expresses the depth of marriage in the public eye and the communication needed to build trust over time.
