The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Kwara State Chapter has postponed the 21-day strike ultimatum, it gave to the state government on account of poor conditions of service of its members.
In a letter to the state Governor, Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, signed by Aminu Shehu and Markus Lukas, the Chairman and Secretary to the State Governor, the decision had followed the complete approval of the council’s demand by the governor.
The demands include: recruitment of additional nurses into the health sector, an upward review of CONHESS from 70%-100%, an implementation of hazard allowance (between the sums of N32,000-N34,000), and an implementation of uniform allowance, among several other benefits.
The letter had read:
“In regards to the approval of the aforementioned demands by his Excellency, the leadership of the association desires to suspend the 21-day ultimatum previously issued,”
“While exercising patience for the cash backing, due to arrive within the month, we urge our members to stay calm and keep committed to their service to humanity.”
The association finally, prayed for God Almighty to uplift and grant Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq more wisdom to effectively pilot the affairs of the state.
