Veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has once again underscored the importance of choosing one wife, urging young men to embrace monogamy if they desire stability, longevity, and true peace.

In a recent conversation on the Olofix Podcast, the 51-year-old music icon revisited the experiences that cemented his belief in one-woman marriage. According to him, his union is not just built on love but anchored on divine instruction.

He recalled meeting his wife in September 2003 after spending five years celibate — a period he described as preparation for the woman God destined for him.

For Eedris, the defining chapter of their marriage came nearly two decades later, when his wife donated a kidney to save his life. That sacrifice, he said, erased any doubt about God’s hand in their relationship.

He recounted:
“I met my wife on September 18, 2003. We got married on December 11, 2004. And based on what God told me to do, that is how I take my action. Now, 20 years later, after I married my wife, God said, ‘I am not done with you yet.’ You had a covenant with me. This is 21 years later. I want to show you one of the reasons why I told you that I have accepted your prayer.”

Speaking further, he emphasized the uniqueness of his wife in his life:
“God gave me my own wife, not another person’s wife. Why will I be stupid to let another woman give birth to a child for me again?”

Though he recognized that African tradition and Islam permit a man to marry multiple wives, the rapper maintained that the ideal of equal love — a requirement for polygamy — is unrealistic.

He explained, “Truly, we are Africans. You are allowed to be polygamous in nature. Even Islam says that if you love women equally, you can marry as many as you can. But let us be very sincere. It is not possible to love women equally. You can only love one woman.”

Eedris rounded off his message with counsel for men seeking a harmonious family life:
“Secondly, as men, we have wisdom. If you want to live long, make sure it is only one woman who gives birth to all your children. If you want to live a sweet life, make sure that it is only one woman.”
