Award-winning rapper Nicki Minaj has generated widespread reactions on social media after sharing an unconventional message to women in celebration of International Women’s Day.
In a post shared on X, the music star urged women to let go of the constant pressure to appear strong, resilient, or flawless all the time. Instead, she encouraged them to embrace their individuality and enjoy the day without worrying about meeting societal expectations.

“I’m not going to write something about how strong & resilient you are because most of the time you shouldn’t have to be,” Minaj wrote.
The rapper went on to suggest a more carefree way to celebrate the day, saying, “Today, instead of being ‘perfect,’ I’d rather you laugh at the mean joke, put your foot out & trip someone walking by, order food for yourself & eat it in front of hungry family members, block people mid-text, listen to people’s problems then just say ‘oh ok,’ play your favorite song all day, admire your beauty…inside & out.”
Her post quickly gained traction online, sparking a wave of responses from social media users. While many fans praised the message for being bold and relatable, others criticised it, describing the remarks as controversial.
The conversation surrounding Minaj’s post comes amid ongoing discussions about the expectations placed on women in society and the pressure to maintain perfection while constantly prioritising others.
