Obiano served as governor of Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, a period marked by infrastructure development, education reforms, and efforts to boost the local economy.

Married to Ebelechukwu Veronica Obiano, he remained deeply connected to his family throughout his public life, balancing personal and professional responsibilities with dedication.

Obiano’s health had been a concern for several months, as he battled cardiovascular disease alongside complications from urinary cancer. Despite receiving intensive care in London, his condition ultimately became critical.
