Eddie Howe, Newcastle United manager has revealed that England’s forward, Callum Wilson desires to feature for the Three Lions at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Wilson bagged a brace in Newscastle’s 4-0 win against Aston Villa in Saturday’s premier league game, which took Newcastle to the fourth place in the EPL table.
Speaking on this, Howe has said that he is proud of Wilson, considering his performance at the game.
He also disclosed that Wilson is eager to play for England, as it has been his childhood goal, and scoring two goals on Saturday increased his confidence level.
“I’m pleased for Callum [Wilson]. I’m not too aware what the players know and what they don’t know about who comes and who’s watching,” Daily Mail quoted Howe as saying.
“Callum is desperate to be involved with England, it’s one of his childhood dreams, so he will be pleased that he played so well. He scored the two goals and his overall performance was very good.”
Callum has scored one goal for England in 34 appearances for the team. He also has scored two goals and bagged two assists for Newcastle in nine games this season
