Nigerian music sensation Wizkid, has done it again as he sets another record on Spotify NG. His single Piece of My Heart, in which he features American R&B sensation Brent Faiyaz, broke the record as the first song to stream over 1 million streams on Spotify NG in just one day.
That placed it at an unprecedented 1.016 million streams in Nigeria alone, setting a new bar for streaming in the country and putting Nigeria in the books as the 22nd country to realize more than 1 million streams of a song on its Spotify chart in one day.
But that was not all: Piece of My Heart did an impressive debut on the Global Spotify Chart, arriving at 90th position with 1.7 million streams. The song, on its first day of release globally, recorded 2.27 million streams and just sealed its influence beyond the borders of Nigeria.
This feat has made Wizkid a part of history, as the song now holds the record for the biggest streaming debut for a song by an African artist on Spotify.
With Piece of My Heart gaining traction, it’s clear this Afrobeats icon is nowhere near showing any signs of slowing down.
