After Wolverhampton Wanderers’ failure to wins any of their first 10 Premier League matches of the season, the club has finally sacked head coach Vitor Pereira.

Sitting at the bottom of the table with only two points, the club decided to part ways with the portugese and announced that James Collins, the under-21 coach, and Richard Walker, the under-18 coach, will be in charge of training until a new manager is appointed. In addition, all the eight members of Pereira’s backroom staff have also left.

The 3-0 loss to Fulham on Saturday made Wolves the first club in English top-flight history to have started two consecutive seasons without a win in their first 10 games. The team which Pereira was given charge of after Gary O’Neil’s departure last season, managed to escape relegation but this time, they had difficulty in progressing further.

Wolves have roped in players like Tolu Arokodare, Jhon Arias, and Jorgen Strand Larsen for over £100 million this summer alone, but the new signings have not made a difference to the team.

Chairman Jeff Shi said, “Vitor and his team put in a lot of hard work and were our guiding light during the difficult period of last season, but the beginning of this season has been very disappointing.”

Fan protest against the club’s ownership and management has been increasing in volume and Pereira has left the club after recording 10 wins, five draws, and 17 losses in 32 Premier League ‍‌‍‍‌games.
