The Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare currently has another woman in its net who physically assaulted, brutalized, and battered her seven-year-old nephew over his failure to recite the English alphabet.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Sunday, had been taken to the office of the state women and social welfare commissioner, Ify Obinabo, on Tuesday by a few concerned residents of the neighborhood after he had been battered by his guardian, Mrs. Abigail Eguta.

Findings have confirmed that Sunday was the child of a single mother but he at present, had been living with Mrs Eguta from Ikwo in Ebonyi State.

Sources have revealed that Sunday’s guardian had regularly tortured and maltreated him since he was brought to live with her less than a year ago.

Meanwhile, the commissioner had ordered the transfer of the case to the state police command for proper investigation, after which the suspect will be charged to court while Sunday has been taken to an undisclosed hospital in Awka, for proper care and treatment.
