The World Bank Group plans to work together with Nigeria’s Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy to improve the country’s maritime industry.
Lia Sieghart, who works for the World Bank, visited Minister Adegboyega Oyetola and praised President Bola Tinubu for creating the ministry. Sieghart said the World Bank is dedicated to helping Nigeria achieve its goals for the maritime sector.
Minister Oyetola was happy about the partnership and mentioned that the ministry’s main focus is on developing the fishing and aquaculture businesses. “Our goals are to manage fishing activities, set up terminals, and create a sustainable fishing program,” he explained.
This partnership fits with the World Bank’s Blue Economy for Resilient Africa Program (BE4RAP), which aims to boost economic growth, reduce poverty, and help with climate change in coastal and marine areas.
